Zamzam is different from the other waters that we know. Beside,it has a distinct taste that is quite different from the other sources in and around Kaba’al Muazzamah. While the water from Dawudiyah Well is salty,zamzam water has a quite sweet taste. According to scientist Zekai Şen, who has conducted research on zamzam water for a long time, zamzam is a miracle with its point of origin and its structure.
MEMORY OF HAJAR(R.A)
İbrahim(a.s) left his wife and son alone in the desert, as commanded by Allah(s.w.t) is generous and knows what he did not. When Hajar(r.a) isolated in the dry and hard conditions of Mecca al Mukarramah with her son İsmail(a.s) noticed that they were running out of water that İbrahim(a.s) left for them she started to rush back and forth between Marwa and Safa hills to find water, seeking for a solution. In the seventh cycle of these back and forth rushes Gabriel(a.s) appeared where İsmail(a.s) was and He drew out water by digging into the soil. Hajar(r.a) encircles the water immediately fills in her container. It is narrated that Gabriel(a.s) said Hajar (a.s) who was drinking from the zamzam water and breastfeeding her son simultaneously, ”Don’t be afraid that this water will disappear and dry out. This is the houseof Allah. Allah protects His friends. This is a water that Allah’s guests will drink.”Since then zamzam continues to refresh pilgrims as per the pledge in the narration. Besides, this memory of Hajar r.a and her son Ismail a.s constitutes the foundation of sa’y, which is one of the menasiqs of hajj and umrah. The Zamzam Well, which is inside the boundaries of Masjid al-Haram, twenty meters east of Kaba Al-Muazzamah, close to Maqam al-Ibrahim, has been in the service of Muslims for approximately four thousandyears without depletion or losing its taste.
